Winter birds in Colorado Springs.

We have been out and about looking for birds all over the area with different groups to see what is still in the area as the seasons change.  So the other day I went to Memorial Park & Prospect Lake to see what might be about.  I thought there had been a report of a Greater White-fronted Goose so I took a stab at finding it.  Well, I did find it as well as several other birds to include both an adult and  juvenile Snow Goose, the white-fronted and to my surprise after my wife questioning the gull that didn't look right, and help from John Drummond with the identification, a 2nd year Mew Gull.  So, it was a pretty good stop after all.

The birds of Summer in El Paso County, Colorado

Even though it is the dog days of Summer there are still birds to see all over the county.  I have been visiting several of the local birding hotspots to see what I can see and have been fortunate to see many birds all over the county on several different occasions.  Several of the locations I have visited include Fountain Creek Nature Center, Ramah State Wildlife Area and Mallard Pond/Drake Lake.
